Ways Article Marketing Has Altered Niche Marketing Research Online

February 27, 2009 by cynthia · 5 Comments

Article marketing has become an extremely effective and popular way to promote online. Prior to this overnight online sensation articles were mainly used for promoting products and services offline through newsletters via mail and the handing out of leaflets.

Later article marketing then was adopted by companies as a way to promote their products in newspapers and magazines.

Now article marketing is widely used over the internet by niche marketers to also sell products, to increase the site rank in search engines and to lend credibility to the site. Not only does article marketing promote products but it also promotes the niche marketing site itself.  The rank of the site in search engines like Google and Yahoo will increase with the use of article marketing.

Article marketing is one of the reasons why the internet has become such a treasure throve of information. Site developers, niche marketers and owners need to submit fresh material regularly in order to promote their sites thereby increasing their page views from site visitors as well as improving their site rank. When a website appears on the first page of a search engine result, it is guaranteed more views and of course the support of online advertisers.

However, due to the wide use of articles to improve site rankings, in many cases the quality of the articles has been reduced.   Take a moment to see the way some articles are written when you click the sites in the search engine results. You may find some have the exact same content as the other. Some may appear to be just a variation of another you have just read. Many will have typing or spelling errors and are also not well-written. Some will have structure problems, cohesion problems and of course grammar mistakes due to them having been written by people whose English is not their first language.

You may also come across articles online that do not have a byline resulting in the articles having no credibility and reliability. Previously medical topics were written by doctors, however now most of them will only be written by individuals who also do their research over the internet.

Due to the fact that article marketing is a highly effective way to promote a website and to increase the rank, articles are being written solely for that purpose i.e. what they are doing is for their own benefit. Many are not being written for the purpose of providing accurate information to readers hence the reason why some websites will also feature information that is unreliable.

It is therefore very important that before you choose websites for your niche marketing research you check them out carefully.  You can usually rely on sites that are being maintained by the government to have pretty reliable content as well as international organizations like those of the United Nations. Great sources of information are medical sites that are maintained by universities and hospitals. Sites being run by non-profit organization will most likely also have reliable content.

In summary, check your sources before you do your niche marketing research online. Article marketing has definitely changed the way we do research on the internet. It might have made researching easier but it has made discriminating harder.

Internet Marketing Consultants Explained

February 26, 2009 by jschuman · Leave a Comment

Internet marketing consultants give professional advice to clients on how to  improve their business.

They are said to be an internet marketer’s competitive advantage.

However, because internet marketing consultants tend to be more specialized than a business coach they can help you get quick results with specific assignment.

To provide expert advice during a project Internet marketing consultants are brought in. They perform a specific and often specialized role for an organization.

A common task internet marketing consultants undertake is email marketing. For offline business seeking new ways to advertise email marketing is a great direct marketing approach. By tailoring their messages to the right consumer segment thus increasing response rate Internet marketing consultants help their clients reach their customers.

They also help clients create websites campaigns to help customers find your website.

Another common task is web design. Internet marketing consultants help create websites designed to give visitors a pleasant experience. This helps to increase the likelihood that they will linger on and make the decision to buy.

They can also simplify your campaigns and site design. Because they help to simplify the internet a consultant is someone who can give professional advice on how to simplify your plans since over complexity is a problem many internet marketers face.

Even if your business is doing well, an internet marketing consultant can open your eyes to solutions and ideas you have not thought of.

Because they specialize, you don’t have worry about them overhauling your business or business plan. They are there for to help you complete specific tasks.

You may need help with your offsite branding but already create successful email campaigns. In this case, your offsite branding is the only focus. An internet consultant will provide expert advice on how to make your site stand out among your competition.

This may mean learning how to create simple, unified web banners so users can recognize your website even when they are on another site. By creating banners that appeal to most appropriate market they will also show you how to increase your click through rate.

It’s this specialization that makes them so useful. They work with you in a session or a series of sessions to help produce projects that produce results.

Internet marketing consultants can specialize in internet strategy reviews, which may include website reviews and marketing plan improvement, SEO, how to get involved in blogging, joint ventures, social media marketing and virtually anything that has to do with online businesses or using the internet to boost business.

The fee varies for internet marketing consultants. Because most consultants are independent contractors and work a freelance basis, they set their own prices. Some may have a standard “basic” to “bonus” fee, while others charge per project.

Internet marketing consultants are a great option if you want to give your business that web advantage.

Best Ways To Monetize A Website

Let’s talk a minute about the best ways to monetize a website!

Did you know there are 40 billion websites on the web and new ones added everyday?

This means that if you are starting a web business of your own you are up against billions of potential competitors.

However, even if there are billions of websites to compete against most of them are not properly set up to make money. Others are operated by individuals who are ill prepared and don’t take things seriously. Thus, despite the mounting numbers you’re probably only competing against a few billion.

What about those that are making money? How do their websites make money and generate an income for their owners? Here are some ways the top 50 websites make money online.

Yes, we went from billions to 50 to help you choose the best monetization methods for your site. Please note that most of the sites are not listed just the business model.

1. Ads: The majority (36) generate an income by using ads. Despite this becoming a vulnerable business model, it’s still growing. Most of them rely of Google, while the others rely on private ad modules run by volunteers.

Ads are easy to set up and operate for the most part. Google Adsense for instance, is a code that you simply add to your pages and then begin making money once the ads are clicked.

2. Affiliate programs: Sites that don’t rely on advertising (and even those that do) concentrate on affiliate programs. Amazon.com was a favorite among the 50. It’s a trusted website that offers a variety of products.

Similar to ad maintaining affiliate programs is easy to do. Most programs have their own marketing material so the affiliate only needs to place the merchant’s banners and textlinks on their site and then generate traffic.

3. Premium accounts: Subscription site owners give people the opportunity to set a free account; they then offer upgradeable options that offer more than the free account. Before they can use the site some web owners make user’s sign up on a less expensive account and then offer the premium account.

Subscription sites are very popular and profitable because they provide a residual income. You can sell to the same customer over and over again.

4. Virtual products: Ebooks, software, videos and music downloads are taking precedence on the internet. One increasingly popular ways is ebookas and they are predicted to overtake print books.

Whether or not that’s true is debatable but more people are searching for virtual products for entertainment and education. Sites like clickbank.com offers a plethora of ebooks and software downloads in virtually every subject.

While ebook.com lets users find their favorite (and new) print books in digital format. And no one can deny the fact that itunes has overtaken CD stores.

5. Clothes and accessories: While a number of people do sell physical products like cellphones. Clothes were actually producing the greatest number of profits. Perhaps it’s because women tend to shop more, and more women are shopping online.

Many of these women are not seeking electronics but fashion. It’s not just eBay that is seeing a growth but online versions of offline shops as well as small independently run online shops.

There are more monetization methods one could choose from to help their websites make money, but of them these are the best ways to monetize a website. When you are competing against billions of websites to make money you want the ideas that work.

Affiliate Marketing Are you Failing

February 16, 2009 by jschuman · Leave a Comment

jeffschuman1 Chances are you are not making any money at affiliate marketing, or maybe you are not making as much as you want.

This does not mean you are a faliure, but it does mean you do not understand how to target the right market with the right product. The average affiliate marketer will scan the net for an affiliate program in their niche that offers the highest commissions.

They may research the legitimacy of the program and search for a few reviews from other affiliates but the research stops there. Over 90% of affiliates do not understand their products or target market.Affiliate marketing is suppose to be simple and to keep it simple affiliates tell themselves, “if I can generate traffic, I can make money doing this”. What ends up happening is this:

John is an affiliate for a dating site. This site is catered to an older audience looking for long term relationships. John only knows that they site has high payouts and is in a niche that he thinks he some knowledge in.

When John creates his marketing campaigns, they are an assortment of information for anyone looking for a relationship. His articles aren’t highly targeted to his market, his PPC campaigns don’t resource the right keywords, and his website isn’t properly optimized.

Sally comes across John’s banner ad, clicks on it and goes to the merchants marketing site, after a few seconds she leaves.

John has failed to convert a visitor into a customer. Is this the merchant’s fault? No, it is John’s because Sally is a 25 year old who simply wants to meet new people. John isn’t reaching the right target market.

Another common example is promoting a product for the wrong budget group. Let’s say John is able to reach people who are in the right age group. But he still cannot make the sale. This dating site is priced for people with high budgets and John is creating marketing campaigns that appeal to those with low budgets. Once again he is missing the mark.

Affiliate marketing is about more than just driving traffic to the merchant’s site. It’s about understanding what the merchant is offering, so you know the key features and benefits to highlight and who would be interested in it.

One way to do this is to test the product or service. It’s important that you get a consumer’s perspective on what the merchant is offering. Did you suit you? Would it suit people like you? Testing the product or service lets you see firsthand what others who buy it will. You may use it and realize it is not something you want to promote. Or you may think it’s a great product for people who belong to certain groups.

Another thing you should do is communicate with the merchant. Talk directly to the merchant by going beyond the sales page. He can give you insider information on the product because he created it. He can also tell you who he made the product for – who he thinks would benefit best from the product.

By knowing the product, you can determine the merchant’s unique selling point and therefore find the target market that would be desperate for the product.

If you are struggling to generate sales with affiliate marketing it may not be the merchant’s fault. It could be because you are not promoting it effectively because you haven’t taken the time to understand the business you are promoting.

Article Marketing – The All Important Resource Box

February 13, 2009 by cynthia · 1 Comment

Think about books, the cover always shows the title and the name of the author printed on both the front and the side. When it comes to article marketing, details of who wrote the article and other important details about the author must always be placed at the bottom which is known as the author’s resource box.

You will also come across the expression “author’s bio”, which is another name for the author’s resource box.   Sometimes it is referred to as a “sig”, which is short for signature. The resource box is your opportunity to let the readers know who you are and how they can contact you, so do not forget to include the following:

Your name is important.  While some people use a pen name others prefer to use their real name. If you have a title, e.g. doctor, then you will add credibility to your article by using it.

If you are promoting a business in your article and you want others to see it then don’t forget to include your website address.

Encourage people to click through on the links you provide in the resource box by giving a brief teaser or summary of what you are offering.

Add a call to action e.g. “Find out what you get for less than $1/day…. Visit http://www.nichepowergroup.com”.

Depending on what your article is about you could also add your email subscription address, offer a free ebook or report and invite readers to subscribe to your ezine or newsletter.   This is a great way to build your list.

You could also include your contact information in the resource box. Whether it be your phone number or email address.

Don’t use the resource box as a resume it should be just a short summary of who you are and what you offer, you do not need to mention everything you have accomplished.

It is best to ensure that the links in your resource box are applicable or related to the article.

Keep the resource box brief, precise and to the point so as to encourage readers to click through on the links you have provided.

Article marketing is a free way for you to reach out to a specific audience in the hope that readers will be able to visit your site. The resource box of your article is the key to making this happen so it is important to put your name, website address, teaser and a call to action.

In order to reach a larger audience, it is best to submit your articles to many article directories.

Internet Marketing Strategy Tips

February 7, 2009 by jschuman · Leave a Comment

When planning your internet marketing strategy there are a lot of things to consider. Even if you run an offline business, and are simply doing internet marketing to bolster you offline sales, you need to carefully plan your strategy.

One of the greatest things is to consider your customer. Who are they? What do they want from you? How did they find you and why you?

A good internet marketing strategy answers those questions. To help you create your own plan let’s use an illustration.

Who are they?

Majority of online business owners do not know who their ideal customer is. They may a foggy picture of who they think would be interested in their product but they couldn’t point them out and say indefinitely “that’s my customer!”

Part of that is due to poor planning and failing to actually get to know the people your website brings in.

A good example of this is a woman I know built a site hoping to attract women in their thirties, but ended up having a web browser base of retirees. She completely missed the mark.

You will have trouble meeting their needs, if you don’t know who you are catering to. Create a spreadsheet of your ideal customer.

What is their age, gender, habits, hobbies, financial status, what do they read or watch? Something as simple as the colors used in your website will bring in a different crowd of people. As I said before, you need to know who they who so you can find out what they want.

What do they want?

Even if you know who they are, you still have to find out how to meet their needs. What do they want to buy from you? What type of service are they expecting from you?

One of the best ways find out what your customer wants is to look at your competitors.

One priority in your internet marketing strategy should be researching your competition. Take a look at their site; what are they doing for your customers that you’re not?

A net browsing focus group found that if users found a helpful feature on one website they expected it on all websites in that niche.

Signing up for their ezine is a good way to research your competition. By conducting polls and surveys you could also find out what your customers want.

How did they find you?

when you want to quickly find out what methods your customers are using to find you surveys and polls also come in handy. If over half of your customers are finding you through Adsense you know that you should focus your efforts on that.

However, since not all your customers will take the time to answer “how did you find this site?” it’s important to take the time to test all your marketing campaigns and analyze the results. What’s working and what isn’t?

Why you?

Why should your customer do business with you? Even if your site looks seemingly helpful, why should they choose you over another site in your niche? You need to know why you’re the best choice for your customer.

Sometimes you are not the best person to do that. You can ask previous clients to write a testimonial as well as work with a business coach to help you learn how to create an outstanding unique selling point.

It will take some effort and time on your part to create an internet marketing strategy.

However, as long as you keep asking who are my customers, what do they want, how did they find me, and why should they do business with me you should be able to plan an internet marketing strategy that will bring in repeat customers and sales.

Business Coaching Statistics

February 5, 2009 by jschuman · 1 Comment

Here are some interesting statistics to consider if you own a small business or internet business. Recent business coaching statistics reveals that applying the skills of a business coach is one of the best ways to stay ahead.

It is predicted that it will become more challenging for a small business owner to be able to work competitively on their own. During this recession especially, when the competition among companies is exhaustingly fierce, it becomes crucial to look for assistance to give you that competitive edge.

Business coaches give you an outside perspective on how your business is running. Because this is something most businesses do not bother to find out, this in itself gives you a lead over your competition.

A practice development research revealed that 42% of businesses don’t use a business coach. This same study though, found you can increase your profit margin by an average of 46% by using a business coach.

Thus 42% of businesses are missing out on a 46% profit increase. If you among that group you may want to carefully consider if you can afford to not use a business coach.

An article posted on affiliatedragon.com stated that having your own internet business was the last weapon against a recession. However, as we’ve seen more businesses both off and online negatively affected by this slow economy, having your own business isn’t a fool proof plan. However, hiring a business coach can be the difference between those that struggle and those that survive.

To help them develop plans to build profit-growing businesses even during a slow economy many business coaches show their clients how to navigate their way through changing economies. This gives them another advantage competitively.

A study conducted by the International Coach Federation surveyed 210 coaching clients for demographic data and feedback /opinions about the value and use of coaching. The study revealed that those who were coached had a positive change in personal work habits. This is instrumental to changing your business during a recession.

Here are some of the statistics this study shows us about business coaching.

62.4% smarter goal-setting

60.5% more balanced life

57.1% lower stress levels

52.4% more self-confidence

43.3% improvement in quality of life

25.7% more income

Those are just a few of the outcomes found through the study.

What we see is the number of people who are experiencing positive personal development skills to apply to their business. It’s not just about dollars and cents and most times companies who are struggling have a personal reason linked to their financial struggle.

Some more interesting business coaching statics were those that we don’t immediately link with business for example, 33.8% saw their health or fitness improve, 33.3% had improved family relationships and 25.7% stopped a bad habit.

Although we don’t immediately associated something like stopping a bad habit to having an effect on our business, the fact is something like being lethargic can affect your work habits. To find out what may be keeping them from advancing their business clients can turn to business coaching.

Sometimes it’s a simple as learning how to organize their office in a more effective and efficient manner.

The business coaching statistics found in this study prove that even during a recession businesses that use coaches can still thrive when they take advantage of the skills offered by a business coach.
