Ways Article Marketing Has Altered Niche Marketing Research Online

February 27, 2009 by cynthia

Article marketing has become an extremely effective and popular way to promote online. Prior to this overnight online sensation articles were mainly used for promoting products and services offline through newsletters via mail and the handing out of leaflets.

Later article marketing then was adopted by companies as a way to promote their products in newspapers and magazines.

Now article marketing is widely used over the internet by niche marketers to also sell products, to increase the site rank in search engines and to lend credibility to the site. Not only does article marketing promote products but it also promotes the niche marketing site itself.  The rank of the site in search engines like Google and Yahoo will increase with the use of article marketing.

Article marketing is one of the reasons why the internet has become such a treasure throve of information. Site developers, niche marketers and owners need to submit fresh material regularly in order to promote their sites thereby increasing their page views from site visitors as well as improving their site rank. When a website appears on the first page of a search engine result, it is guaranteed more views and of course the support of online advertisers.

However, due to the wide use of articles to improve site rankings, in many cases the quality of the articles has been reduced.   Take a moment to see the way some articles are written when you click the sites in the search engine results. You may find some have the exact same content as the other. Some may appear to be just a variation of another you have just read. Many will have typing or spelling errors and are also not well-written. Some will have structure problems, cohesion problems and of course grammar mistakes due to them having been written by people whose English is not their first language.

You may also come across articles online that do not have a byline resulting in the articles having no credibility and reliability. Previously medical topics were written by doctors, however now most of them will only be written by individuals who also do their research over the internet.

Due to the fact that article marketing is a highly effective way to promote a website and to increase the rank, articles are being written solely for that purpose i.e. what they are doing is for their own benefit. Many are not being written for the purpose of providing accurate information to readers hence the reason why some websites will also feature information that is unreliable.

It is therefore very important that before you choose websites for your niche marketing research you check them out carefully.  You can usually rely on sites that are being maintained by the government to have pretty reliable content as well as international organizations like those of the United Nations. Great sources of information are medical sites that are maintained by universities and hospitals. Sites being run by non-profit organization will most likely also have reliable content.

In summary, check your sources before you do your niche marketing research online. Article marketing has definitely changed the way we do research on the internet. It might have made researching easier but it has made discriminating harder.

I totally agree. Clever website owners can actually use that to their competitive advantage – by ensuring that the articles on their site are top quality. Site owners that purchase large quantities of cheap “unique” articles ($1-2 an article) are not going to get quality articles. Quality writers simply won’t write for $3 an hour. They don’t have to.

What do you do when you come across a website with poor quality content? I click off – because I assume if their content is shoddy, their product won’t be much better!

    Wow!
this is some great information. This really makes me think about some of the articles I have written. I never try to send out junk when writing articles but more research could be improved before articles are sent out. Thanks for this post.

    Hello, Cynthia:

Thank you for this informative blog post. I agree that article marketing has become hugely popular. And as a result, the quality is not always what it could be. Writers should always strive to please the human reader.

Also, when I come across an article with no byline or signature, I question the credibility of the website. It’s okay for a webmaster to acknowledge an outside author. We know not everybody has the time to write their own articles. But the author should always be identified, if for no other reasons than respect and credibility.

Article marketing is a great way to build links and increase traffic to your site and getting on to page one of Google is a must if you want to do this, but it is also important to remember that you are writing an article that people will be reading. Don’t just concentrate on SEO make it people friendly as well. Thank for a great article.

Very informative and educative article. Quite often we write article for their SEO value and forget that they will be read by human beings! An article may be SEO-friendly but appear as junk to a person researching for useful information.
    Thanks for sharing.
